The focus of this site is the genetic and ancestral origins of sub-group Y5125, a Scottish branch of BY129 which is part of haplogroup R1b-L165 http://www.familytreedna.com/public/R-L165Project/default.aspx?section=yresults
Y5125 is confined to the Western Isles of Scotland (Isle of Barra, South Uist, Harris and Lewis), Skye, the Inner Hebrides (Isle of Jura, Isle of Lismore and Appin) and on the mainland Argyllshire, Ross-shire, Sutherland, Caithness and Morayshire.
To complement the DNA results the site aims to provide some historical and geographical context.
